Measures to Support Accessibility

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our websites:

  • Include accessibility as part of our vision statement.
  • Integrate accessibility into our daily practices.
  • Partner with accessibility specialists who provide ongoing accessibility reviews and recommended accessibility fixes.
  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Our website accessibility has been verified by experts in accessible evaluation and approved in the Chancellor's Office Certificate of Web Accessibility. As of July 2023, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office websites are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standards.

Compatibility With Browsers and Assistive Technology

The Chancellor’s Office supports present-day technical accessibility standards, such as ARIA 1.2, to ensure our interactive web features work correctly with modern browsers and assistive technology. We recommend several browser and screen reader combinations, including:

  • Chrome Version 114 or later / JAWS 2023 (Windows)
  • EDGE 114 or later / NVDA 2023.1 (Windows)
  • iOS 16 (or later) / Safari with VoiceOver (Mobile)

Assessment Approach and Evaluation Reports

The CCCCO uses an accessibility partner for external evaluation. We are continually working to ensure all content on our websites is accessible to everyone.

We have accessibility reports and a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) plan on file for each of our websites. VPATs are available upon request. Please contact the webmaster to request copies.
