Pasadena City College, founded in 1924, is Pasadena and is a part of the Pasadena Area Community College District. Originally named Pasadena Junior College, the college merged with another junior college, John Muir College, to become Pasadena City College.

The college has academic programs in 60 program areas, 76 career and technical programs and 25 lifelong learning programs. The college has an exceptionally high transfer rate to four-year universities, ranked second within the system. The college’s math department has won the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, the community college mathematics competition, numerous times and is the defending champion.
