San Diego City College, founded in 1914, is in San Diego. The college was the third community college established in California and is a part of the San Diego Community College District.

The college originally was on the same site as San Diego High School, moving among various sites including San Diego State University until establishing a permanent site in the 1950s. The college offers more than 100 majors, 100 certificate programs and 1,500 classes each semester to more than 18,700 students.

The new 88,000 square-foot CTC – Career Technology Center - opened in 2010 and the five-story building houses the cosmetology, photography and digital arts and nursing programs, a student gallery, the college police and an 11-story 700-car parking structure. Construction is scheduled to begin on the arts and humanities, business technology and science buildings in 2001.
