Green Technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College

In the five years since Los Angeles Trade-Technical College adopted its Green College Initiative, the school has employed green building practices and developed and implemented training and degree programs for high growth, high-demand and emerging green-related industries and occupations.

“Our board has just approved nine new degree and certificate programs and each stacks onto the degree,” said Marcy Drummond, the college’s vice president of workforce and economic development. “We also have a transportation and alternative fuels and pollution mitigation classes that are gaining in popularity too.”

The campus also is one of 30 United States Department of Energy Weatherization Training Centers in the nation and the only state-approved community college weatherization training center focusing on low-income housing, Drummond said.
