Priority Registration

Changes to priority registration throughout the California Community Colleges system will help our students get the courses they need to meet their educational goals. The new changes will take effect for the fall 2014 academic year. With the new priority registration system, students making progress toward their goals will be rewarded for their efforts. It is important for both continuing and new students to know about the changes so they can prepare. Here you will find collateral materials, created with input from our college partners, to help get the message out in clear and consistent manner.

Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy

Among the activities of the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, the programs of the Division of Workforce and Economic Development bridge the skills and jobs mismatch and prepare California’s workforce for 21st century careers. The Division serves as administrator for several streams of state and federal funds, including Governor’s Career Technical Education Pathways Initiative (SB70), Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, and Proposition 98 dollars for Apprenticeship, Economic & Workforce Development (EWD), and Career Technical Education (CTE).

The Division collaborates with employers, organized labor, local communities, and their community colleges through programming supported by these funds to close the skills gap and to foster successful student completion.

Scorecard

In its commitment to increase transfer and degree and certificate attainment, the California Community Colleges Board of Governors has established a performance measurement system that tracks student success at all 112 community colleges.

This scorecard represents an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability on student progress and success metrics in public higher education in the United States. The data available in this scorecard tell how well colleges are doing in remedial instruction, job training programs, retention of students and graduation and completion rates.

Salary Surfer

As students and their families make important decisions about investing their time and money in pursuing a college education, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office is making available for the first time comparative information about the earnings of recent graduates who received an award in a specific program area at California community colleges.

The Salary Surfer uses the aggregated earnings of graduates from a five year period to provide an estimate on the potential wages to be earned two years and five years after receiving a certificate or degree in certain disciplines. This tool also provides information on which colleges offer programs in those specific disciplines. The Salary Surfer does not contain information about wages earned by community college students who transfer to a four-year institution.
