EL CAJON, Calif. — A new online tool released today by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office allows students and the public to view aggregated median earnings of those who complete a certificate or degree in a specific community college discipline and then enter the workforce.

Harris on Tuesday released Student Success Scorecards that detail student outcomes at all 112 colleges using a variety of metrics that are presented in a clear and concise way and make the nation’s largest system of higher education also the most accountable.

California Community Colleges Vice Chancellor for Student Services & Special Programs Linda Michalowski briefed members of community college student newspapers and their faculty advisors today on enrollment priority regulation changes set to take effect in the fall 2014 term. The teleconference today gives student newspaper writers and editors the opportunity to present information to current students who may be on probation or facing a unit cap so they can seek help to improve their academic standing over the next 18 months and carefully plan their remaining courses.

California Community Colleges Chancellor Jack Scott announced on August 29th during a media briefing call that budget cuts have resulted in an historic 17 percent drop in enrollment at the state’s community colleges over the past three years, impairing the ability of colleges to produce the skilled workforce that California’s economy needs. Scott was joined on the call by Long Beach City College President Eloy Oakley, State Center Community College District (Fresno) Chancellor Deborah Blue and Los Rios Community College District (Sacramento) Chancellor Brice Harris.
